My name is Katherine Jackson, I'm a small town girl achevivng her dream of being a dancer.My family and friends are a large part of my dance, knowing that I am making them happy doing what I love is my driving force. I pride myself on my morals and personality and be authentically me. My morals are to stay honest not sugar coating things and to speak your mind. Dont change for anything (People, places etc.) Be authentically yourself. My morals come from my family and myself as a person over the years. They influence me in the dance world as they are topics that in this day in age arent hit on as much, Sure people are always telling us to be ourselves but we do and people tell us no, same with speech anymore you get told what to say and when to say it instead of thinking for ourselves and speaking against the narrative. I want to be able to bring the world back so really everyone is heard and not just what we see on tv. Honesty, Loyalty and hard working are some of main traits that I have been associated with over the years from teachers, peers and friends. I describe myself as a girl who knows what she wants and how to achieve it. I don’t stop till I achieve my goal. I want to be a strong female role model to young dancers that come from single parent homes that you can achieve your dreams if others dont believe you will or because you're from a “broken” home. Also in that you can go against the current status quo and be your ownself while being respectful to others.

Another part of my persona is my geek side. I'm a lover of all things pop culture specifically, Comic con and Fandom part. I find myself influenced in my dancing by telling the stories of characters, from the tragic parts to the fun lighthearted parts. I find myself acting out parts of stories in dance as another way of communicating the story. The Corps Dance Crew is a large influence on me. They are a troupe that does mostly hip hop and jazz dancing with some other dance form thrown in. They perform at comic conventions all over the west coast performing routes about various fandoms from DC to Attack on Titan. They perform telling the story of characters while also having a blast at what they do. I want to be able to create pieces like them that people can relate to or smile seeing their favorite characters come to life. They are my embodiment of my other driving force. If I can put a smile on someone's face doing what I love, I know I'm doing the right thing.
